Welcome

Dear colleagues and friends,

We are happy to introduce the next FEBS Advanced Lecture Course on Molecular Mechanisms of Host-Pathogen Interactions and Virulence in Human Fungal Pathogens scheduled for an in-person meeting in May 2026 in La Colle-sur-Loup (France). As you know, the course uniquely integrates fundamental molecular mycology with host-pathogen interactions, antifungal resistance, and immune defense mechanisms, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and equipping early-career scientists with cutting-edge tools to tackle fungal diseases.

This 11th edition of the course provides a comprehensive and interdisciplinary approach to fungal pathogenesis, integrating state-of-the-art research on molecular mechanisms of virulence, host-pathogen interactions, and cross-kingdom dynamics. Together with the help of The Scientific Advisory Board, we have gathered a diverse lineup of leading experts, ensuring participants gain in-depth knowledge of cutting-edge topics, including genomics, RNA biology, experimental evolution, immune evasion, and fungal-bacterial interactions.

We believe that their presentations will be sources of inspiration for all of us and we look forward to seeing you in person next May in the south of France.

Special Issue Opportunity – FEBS Letters

Course co-organizers Clarissa J. Nobile and Agostinho Carvalho are guest editing a forthcoming FEBS Letters Special Issue dedicated to timely review articles on human fungal pathogens. The issue will highlight emerging advances in fungal pathogenesis, host-pathogen interactions, immunity, diagnostics, therapeutics, and related areas of broad interest to the field. Conference speakers and participants with ideas for high-impact review articles are warmly encouraged to contact the guest editors to discuss potential contributions.

Submission deadline: 31 December 2026
